As believers are we supposed to be involved in things that we are not passionate about?
I was thinking and talking through this yesterday. How often do I do things out of obligation? Or, how often do I do things or agree to things without really thinking about them, really seeing if that is where my heart is? I think that i actually do things quite often our of obligation, and i totally believe that is wrong.
I do believe that there are times when we need to ask God for a desire to do something...I just think that it ultimately comes down to our motives behind why we agree to something.
If we are agreeing to committ to something, simply because we feel that, that is what people expect of us, that we are supposed to, cuz we want to please people....no, can't do it, sorry. The motives are not pure. The attitude is not right. Why committ to something that your heart is not into, that your not even the least bit passionate about, or desiring?
We have passions and desires for a reason. So if we just do things that don't lead us into those passions, where we are able to use those passions...why?
But i do think we need to do things that sometimes we may not feel like doing...because God can most definately use that and even maybe bring to light a desire we didn't realize we had.
We are all wired differently. With different passions and desires. We complete the body of Christ, with all of our different passions, gifts, talents, desires...So just because someone may have a different passion or desire than you, does not make either of you in the wrong, or one better than the other. Just means you are different, unique, your own person created by God for God.
And just because someone expects you to do something, that you may not feel passionate about at all, does not make it okay to get involved.
(In my opinion)
"All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the LORD."
Proverbs 16:2
So what are you passionate about? Where is your heart?
Ultimately, may the things of God and God Himself, be your main desire and passion.
Psalm 40:8
"I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart."
"The Lord your God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with His love and He will rejoice over you with singing."

sometimes you just dont want to go through with life, all the demands. the pressures. the lists of things to do. the people to please...the emotions, the wrong doings, the sin, overwhemlingness, the doubts and questions. the searching for what and where you are supposed to be at and to be doing, the expectations we receive and that we place on others...etc...it eventually catches up to u. catches up to everyone in different ways.
we dont rely enough on God. we are too prideful. we dont make enough time for God. we dont want to go through what we find hard, stressful...we dont want to endure or to perservere in any and every circumstance. we live as if our situations are bigger than God. we have a skewed view of who our God really is and how big He is and how much He actually loves us and what He does for us daily.
We just need to take the time to let Him woo us. to let Him quiet our hearts, to give us a peace that passes all understanding. To give us patience when we just want to more forward in life. to give us endurance in those momennts we just want to go away. to give us relief when we are overwhelmed. and amidst it all, to be our JOY.
Our Everything.
Romans 5:3-5
"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."

The Case For Jesus
"one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the POWER of an INDESTRUCTIBLE LIFE." Hebrews 7:16
I read this today, and got super excited. I fell in love with my God again. Which I am realizing is the reoccuring theme to my life, falling in love with my Creator.
The context is talking about this Melchizedek dude, who was a priest, and how the priests came from the tribe of Levi but he wasnt, he was special and i believe the Jews were putting this preist dude above other priests and even Jesus. i could be wrong, but thats what Im getting. But its saying how the old regulation to be a priest was based on their ancestry, what tribe they were from. where Jesus, who is the ultimate priest, his basis for priesthood isnt based on his ancestry, but on the POWER OF AN INDESTRUCTIBLE LIFE! i love it. THAT is my Savior!! indestructible!
"Such a high priest meets our need--one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever." Hebrews 8:26-28
Jesus is perfect.
Makes me smile and my heart leap!

Refreshing Hearts
Philemon 7, 20
"Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints......I do wish brother, that I may have some benefit from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in Christ."
Refreshing hearts. It's not just a beautiful phrase or words, but its a beautiful truth and thought.
As i read this yesterday, i just had to ponder it. I love the thought of refreshing hearts, and having your heart refreshed. I know there have been many times where my heart has just been refreshed by others. and i was thinking about that, and on HOW a heart is refreshed, and for me, i think my heart is refreshed when I see people worship freely. when i hear people who are just totally in love with the Father and are so genuine, as well as just being able to talk with people and share your heart and then, either a prayer from that person or just a listening ear or an encouraging word(s).
and i love when Paul was talking to Philemon about how his Love...and how it has given him great joy and encouragement because of how he has refreshed the hearts of the saints.
refreshment of hearts, stems from Love. not just any love. but a Heavenly Love. a Godly Love. The Love of our Father, that is inside of us. The Love that we surrender to, that causes us to be selfless, to fix our eyes on things and people other than ourselves....
my heart has been refreshed before. i would love for it to continue to be refreshed. and i would love to refresh the hearts of others i come in contact with.

Ugly to Beautiful
We are an ugly people.
We sin. We judge. We fall. We say harsh words, we do harsh things. We forget. We lose sight of God. We don't know how to love. We choose sometimes not to love. We don't give people chances. We fail. We hurt. We hurt others. We hurt ourselves. We are fearful. We are merciless. We quarrel. We want revenge...
and so it goes on....
We are an ugly people. We will always be messing up, making mistakes, failing, until the return of Jesus Christ and we are with Him in eternity and in our new bodies, our sinless, heavenly bodies.
We really don't help each other. Majority of the time, we just dishearten people, we upset people, we hurt people without realizing we are doing it.
My heart is really sad right now. knowing that this world is full of sin, and that I have to live in it and amidst it and see what it does to people and witness it first hand as well as know that I at times have a part of all of the ugliness. It's also very frustrating, but mostly, sad.
But I just have to look to God. He sent His Son to die for this world. To die for me. To die for you. His Love is perfect. We are His beloved. He is all we need. He has made us pure, righteous, clean, holy. He has made us beautiful. Yet all to often, we forget that, because we are so caught up in ourselves and in the world. We just have to embrace Him. And everything that this world throws our way, take it with Him. In Him. In His strength, His Love, His might, His courage, His truth, His grace, His mercy. He is the judge. He Is Love.
Where is our vision? What is our perspective? What is the source of our reactions? Our words? Our emotions? God should be the center of everything in us. God should be who we fear, not people. God should be who we please, not people. God should be who we tell things to first. God should be our judge, not others. God should be our everything...
and so it goes on...
:) God makes us beautiful...(new creation)
"For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins...He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." Colossians 1:13-14,17

My God is Greater
We forget how awesome God is. How powerful He is. How might to save He is.
"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith..."
Hebrews 12:2(a)
One thing I am learning and being reminded of...(from the book Crazy Love-took another look at the first few chapters...forgot how awesome it was and through God and His word...)is that God is the only one who can change people. God is the one in charge.
So often I think that what I do for people, my time I give them, even may words I say to them, or actions will help change them. But really, i do nothing for people. God is the one who does everything in and for a person. Sometimes He may use me as a tool, which is a huge privelage, but ultimately, God is the only being who impacts people.
Also a reality that is pretty awesome, is that no matter how much I love someone, God's love for them is even greater. Pureer. Stronger. Mightier. Which is incredible. Cuz sometimes i don't know what to do because my heart is so full of love. And to think that God's love is perfect...it blows me away!
So i guess i challenge you to be blown away by the Love of God. and to remember that you can't change people. God is in control. God is God. Let Him be God, and sometimes you just have to give people up to Him. Give yourself up to Him. Give things up to Him. Because we can't make any changes without Him. We need Him.
"Our God is greater. Our God is stronger. God you are higher than any other. Our God is Healer. Awesome is Power. Our God. Our God!" Chris Tomlin

When you fall in love, you give yourself.
I just want to encourage everyone to Fall In Love with God.
I am finding that the more I give myself to God, the more strength I have in Him and the more I fall in love with Him. As well as the more I fall in love and give myself, I want more of Him. I sit here. 115am. My average bedtime this week has been 2amish. give or take an hour or so later or earlier. It's because of God. Cuz I want to spend extra quality time with Him, outside of my 15-20 min devotions. I'm not sharing this to tell everyone to be like me. I am sharing this, because its on my heart and I am so excited about Jesus Christ and about giving more of myself to Him. I, a person who enjoys sleep waaay to much and most days, just wants to sleep...have not been wanting to go bed (now the mornings are a different story). And I, a person who usually needs a nap, who gets so tired come around 1-2pm....has been decently energetic than usual, not yawning as much as usual. I truly believe this is God. Could partly be still adjusting from Alaska time, but I do believe that God has a huge hand in it.
Granted, in the next week or so I will have many early mornings, so things will need to change. But for right now, I am enjoying the late nights/early mornings.
Time spent with God comes in many forms and ways. Blogging, Reading, Writing, Praying, Worshipping, Unwinding...
God is always there. Take time to notice Him. To pour your heart out to Him. To Honor Him with who you are and what you enjoy. Take time to be woo'd by Him. Take time to Learn...a lot and to grow!
Fall in Love. With the One who Created You. Who Designed You. Who takes delight in you. Who sent His Son for You. Who Died for You. Who Sacrificed for You. Who Forgave you. Who Redeemed you. Who is always with you. Who Strengthens you. Who protects you. Who Loves you with an extravagant love: the only true love there is.
"May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word." 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
